4-7-23 TOV Loading and DeliveryBetter for our community, better for our planet

The Town of Vail’s loading and delivery regulations in Vail Village and Lionshead have been adopted to increase the safety of pedestrians, improve the guest experience, and reduce environmental impacts caused by vehicular traffic in pedestrian mall areas.

View the new ordinance here.

The E-Vail Courier Program is a delivery system that addresses these issues and provides for the coordinated and efficient delivery of commercial goods in Vail Village. The program includes use of town-owned electric carts to make deliveries from the Mountain Plaza loading dock to storefronts in Vail Village’s pedestrian area while strictly limiting access by other vehicles.

As part of this program, delivery vehicles are no longer allowed in the pedestrian areas of Vail Village and Lionshead with few exceptions. Delivery access is through loading docks at Arrabelle, Four Seasons, Mountain Plaza, One Willow, Sebastian and Solaris.

Loading Dock Permits

All delivery companies that serve businesses in Vail Village and Lionshead, with few exceptions, are required to obtain a loading dock permit. Delivery access via the loading docks at Arrabelle, Four Seasons, Mountain Plaza, One Willow, Sebastian and Solaris will not be allowed without a dock permit. Permit fees are calculated annually beginning in October and are prorated on a monthly basis. The tiered fee system is based on several factors such as number of delivery days per week, number of delivery locations in Lionshead and Vail Village, time needed at the dock for delivery, and the size of the truck. This ensures the dock permit fees are representative of the business. The issuance and maintenance of a permit are subject to compliance with the code of conduct and dock regulations.

The permitting process also requires delivery companies to sign up at www.opendock.com. Open Dock allows for scheduling, tracking and coordination of deliveries from the Mountain Plaza loading dock.

Loading and delivery general application      Loading and delivery liquor distributor application

Loading dock hours of operation are from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Contact 106West, the town’s contractor for dock operations, at 970-754-DOCK (3625) or at jason@106west.co for deliveries outside of those times.

In addition, liquor and beer delivery companies will need to apply for a permit through the state. Contact Code Enforcement at 970-479-2201;  or 106West at 970-754-DOCK (3625) or at jason@106West.co to start this process as soon as possible, as this permit can take a little longer.

Prior to using the E-Vail Courier program please contact 106West Logistics at info@106west.co  or 970 445-4040 for more information regarding the Town of Vail's complimentary last mile services from the Mountain Plaza Loading Dock in Vail Village.
