Vail’s vibrant economy requires constant attention and committed action to respond to market forces and optimize economic opportunity.

Economic development research and corresponding initiatives are critical to sustaining a vibrant, diverse economy in Vail. In 2007, an economic development division was added to the town’s staff to lead marketing and research activities in Vail, with the goal of attracting business and supporting a year-round economy.

Boards and Commissions

In 2018 the Economic Development Department was established. The following boards and commissions are essential to creating a healthy, vibrant year-round economy in Vail.

• Vail Local Marketing District (VLMD)
• Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council (VLMDAC)
• Committee on Special Events (CSE)

In addition, the Town Manager's Vail Economic Advisory Council is comprised of local business leaders who provide guidance to support the vitality and growth of Vail's economy.
