To protect and restore Gore Creek, a Stream Corridor Protection Ordinance has been adopted.

The new ordinance has two parts:

• Establishment of a 10-foot “no-mow-zone” along streams and creeks in Vail to restore and protect riparian habitat.

• Change the required building setbacks from waterways from a centerline-based setback to a 25-foot setback from the Two-Year Flood Line.

Elevation data that a professional surveyor may use to delineate the Two-Year Flood Line is available below.  Please note that viewing these specialized files requires access to GIS and/or CAD software. You may find instructions for how to assign elevations to contours from a shapefile here.
