Enjoy free daytime parking along with free bus service to event venues, trailheads and activities throughout town, including express bus service to Ford Park for concerts and sporting events. The summer operations will also include a $35 fee for vehicles stored overnight in the Vail Village and Lionshead structures. There is a max length of stay of 14 days. The overnight charge will occur for vehicles parked between 4 and 5 a.m.

Additional free daytime parking is available at the Red Sandstone garage at 559 North Frontage Road. There is a $15 fee for vehicles stored overnight in the Red Sandstone garage. There is a max length of stay of 14 days. The overnight charge will occur for vehicles parked between 4 and 5 a.m. This parking garage is located on the north side of the pedestrian walkway that crosses the interstate from Lionshead and offers a great option for vehicles under eight feet tall.

Parking for oversized vehicles, including RVs and trailers, will be available on the North Frontage Road in West Vail. Overnight parking is $35 per 24 hours for a maximum of five days. This will become FREE Oct. 1. This area is located near the West Vail Fire Station #3. Payments are made through the ParkMobile app.

Overnight Parking

Overnight parking is available in the Vail Village or Lionshead parking structures. There will be an overnight parking fee of $35 from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. Additional overnight parking is available in the Red Sandstone garage. There will be an overnight parking fee of $15 from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. Please see rate signs at entrance.

Length of stay must not exceed 14 days. For vehicles using the structures overnight for over 14 days, call 970-479-2445 for assistance from the parking staff.

Oversize Vehicles

Day Time Oversize Vehicles

Oversize vehicles such as trailers, RVs and charter buses will have free day parking from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. available on the North Frontage Road across from the Safeway as well as on the south side of the North Frontage Road by the West Vail Fire Station.

Overnight Oversize Vehicles

Overnight parking for oversize vehicles is available on the north side of the North Frontage Road west of the West Vail Fire Station. The parking fee is $35 per 24 hours. The parking is only available between the oversize vehicle signs. To pay for the parking please see ParkMobile signs at the location and either scan the QR code or call the phone number on the sign. There is a five day max stay with only one stay allowed every 30 days. There is no camping allowed in the Town of Vail ( TOV Ord. 35 (1978) Section 2) this area is for storage of the vehicle or trailer only. It is a first come first serve area and the space will be forfeited if the vehicle is moved.

Vail Village
The height of the Vail Village parking structure entrance is 7’2”. Vehicles that are 7’2” or higher can park on the 4th level of the Vail Village parking structure or on the top level of the Lionshead parking structure. Vehicles cannot exceed 19 feet in length.

Lionshead
The height of the Lionshead parking structure entrance is 7’. Vehicles that are 7’ or higher can park on the top level of the Lionshead parking structure or on the 4th level of the Vail Village parking structure. Vehicles cannot exceed 19 feet in length.

Red Sandstone
The Red Sandstone structure is a great option for overnight parking with vehicles over the height limit for the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures. The length restriction is 19', and the height restriction is 8'.

Ford Park Parking

Both the Ford Park and Vail Athletic Fields lots offer close in parking to the Ford Park area. Additionally, free bus services run from both the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures to the Ford Park area during special events. These events can be found on the calendar link above. The event express bus stops are located at the Lionshead Transit Center, the north side of the Vail Village Welcome Center and at Ford Park.

Available Summer 2023 Parking Passes

Summer 23 Condo Pass - $475 - This pass is for condominium owners in the Vail Core with properties that are included within the qualified exemption map. The pass will allow for free entry and exit at the Vail Village structure, Lionshead structure, and Red Sandstone structure. This pass will waive overnight parking fees at these locations. Owners will be required to upload proof of ownership and ID. Visit vail.mgzephire.com/parkerportal/ to get started.

Vail Core Overnight Employee Pass - Employees who work overnight at a Vail Village or Lionshead business are asked to come to the Vail Municipal Building at 75 S. Frontage Rd. with a signed letter from their employer to obtain a free overnight parking pass. To be eligible for this pass, employment must include required overnight work between 4 and 5 a.m. This pass will waive overnight fees at the Vail Village structure, Lionshead structure, and Red Sandstone structure.

Electric Cars & Charging Stations

To accommodate the growing demand for electric vehicle charging capacity, 7 multi-port Level 2 electric vehicle ChargePoint charging stations are available (6 in the Vail Village parking structure and 1 in the Lionshead garage). These Level 2 Stations are free to use and depending on utilization may deliver 10 to 20 miles of range per hour of charging. In addition, there are 4 single-port Level 3 DC Fast Chargers available in the short-term parking of the Lionshead Parking Structure. These Level 3 charging stations can deliver 60 to 80 miles of range in 20 minutes of charging and have an associated cost to use. The rate structure includes a combined charge rate for energy and time used.

Charge for energy used $ 0.20/kWh
Charge timed rate $ 0.25/minute (charge will be assessed even if vehicle is done charging)

Parking in a charging station while not actively charging an electric vehicle is illegal per Colorado State Statue 43-2-1214. Persons are prohibited from:

Parking in the space if the vehicle is not an electric vehicle;
Using a dedicated charging station for parking if the electric vehicle is not charging.

The penalty for a violation is a $150 fine.

Vail Village Parking Structure

Level 1 – Southeast end of the structure, section T, one charging station with one port.
Level 2 – Driving up the ramp from Level 1, section T, two charging stations with four ports. Section HH, one charging station with two ports.
Level 3 – West end of the structure next to the pedestrian exit, section A two charging stations with four ports.

Lionshead Parking Structure

Level 1 – Southeast end of the structure, one charging station with two ports.
Level 1 – In the short term parking area (paid Level 3 fast charging stations), four stations with 4 ports.

The cost for using the Level 3 DC Fast Charger is a combination of energy and time used while charging.
